Lázaro Rosa-Violán

Founder & Creative Director at
Lázaro Rosa Violán Studio

Born in Tangier, Lázaro Rosa-Violán grew up between Bilbao, Madrid and Barcelona, and today
divides his time between these cities and an aeroplane. Even so, he declares himself a
Barcelonian at heart. The son and grandson of Catalans, from a very young age he showed a
creative restlessness that led him, at the age of just 8, to attend the Academy of Fine Arts as an
auditor, combining his academic training with his passion for painting, a discipline in which he
exhibited for the first time in Brussels.

His time in Bilbao connected him to an environment where houses told stories. Elegance,
tradition and a certain air of theatricality permeated that lifestyle, awakening in him a
fascination for aesthetics and the art of transforming spaces. This sensitivity would grow even
more during his years in Madrid and Barcelona, where he began his approach to architecture,
a key influence in his artistic development.

At the age of 23, he moved to Paris to continue painting and further his training. There, he
combined his stay with summers in the countryside of northern England and in London, where
he completed his studies at Central Saint Martins, which at the time offered an artistic and
creative approach to architecture and design. He becomes the first in his family to pursue an
artistic career.

Over the years, he has not only deepened his training as a visual artist but has also explored
other disciplines such as architecture, graphic design, lighting, furniture, and mural art. His
curiosity and sensitivity have driven him to observe not only how spaces look but how they are
lived in. This impulse naturally led him to interior design.

An avid traveler, lover of music, antique books, fabrics, objects with history, and markets
where he can lose himself for hours, Lázaro collects experiences that he transforms into
inspiration. In his free time, he enjoys the sea, walking with his dogs, cooking for friends, and
leisurely conversations. He is fascinated by crafts, well-executed tradition, and the imperfect
with soul. He considers himself more of an observer than a talker, more intuitive than rational.
He is defined by his versatility and his ability to adapt to each context; for him, true luxury lies
in authenticity and unexpected beauty.

Although he is a well-known figure in the design world, his career is guided by instinct, culture,
and sensitivity. Lázaro is much more than an interior designer: he is a visual storyteller, a
creator of atmospheres, capable of finding beauty where others do not see it.
